We are committed to being one of the best campgrounds in the Smoky Mountains, and our recent awards from Campspot further prove our status! Not only does our beautiful location on the Little Pigeon River and proximity to the national park set us apart, but also our extensive amenities, free wifi, and the best swimming and fishing spots in the area! Keep reading to learn more about why we are the top Smoky Mountain campground.

1. We are a nationally recognized and award-winning campground.

Campsot, a leader in supporting over 2,000 campgrounds in both the U.S. and Canada, recently recognized Greenbrier Campground. Here are the 3 awards we won in 2024:

  • #1 mid-sized campground in the U.S.
  • #1 campground in the U.S. for fishing
  • #2 overall campground in the U.S.

It’s a privilege to have been awarded these honors, and we have taken great pride in providing the best camping experience for families coming to the Smokies.

2. We are a pet-friendly campground.

Another reason we are the top Smoky Mountain campground is because we are pet-friendly! We have two fenced-in dog parks, as well as several walking paths throughout the campground, and you can also bring your dog to the beach and in the river, provided that they don’t disturb our other guests. Read our entire pet policy to learn more!

3. We are a half-mile from the national park entrance.

Families love our location because we are literally a few steps away from the Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can easily access beautiful hiking trails such as Porters Creek, Old Settlers Trail, Baskins Falls, and Grapeyard Ridge. If you’re up for a challenge, the hike to Ramsey Cascades is long and strenuous, but seeing that mighty 100-foot waterfall at the end is well worth it!

4. We have riverside and forest campsites.

Our camping spots in the Smokies can accommodate both tents and RVs. We have 120 sites with water, sewer, and electric hookups, pull-through and back-in sites, and a picnic table and fire ring at each site (charcoal and propane grills are also available near the campground pavilion). You can choose to be close to the river or tucked away in the woods! For a little luxury, treat yourself by renting one of our bell tents, equipped with 2 full-size pillow-top mattresses, a fan, a table, and interior and exterior lighting.

5. We have camping cabins available.

If you can’t tent camp and don’t have an RV but still want to experience our Smoky Mountain campground, come and stay at one of our camping cabins! Ideal for up to 3 people, they have a bunk bed-style queen bed with a twin on top, a TV, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and heat/AC. Our deluxe camping cabins offer a little more space with a queen bedroom, a bunk room with 4 twins (2 bunk-style beds) or a small loft for two small children (trifold cots supplied), a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and living area, cable TV, and a wrap-around deck overlooking the river.

6. We have the best swimming hole and fishing location.

No other campground in the area has better swimming and fishing opportunities! Campers can access our quiet private beach and the best swimming hole in the Smokies, thanks to the river that runs directly through the campground. The banks of the river offer the optimal spot for trout fishing– in fact, that’s one of the categories of awards we placed first in!

7. We offer more amenities than any other campground.

If you thought having a private beach, swimming hole, and fishing spot was all that we offered, you would be wrong! While those amenities are incredible, the full list of amenities at Greenbrier Campground is much longer! We operate a fully stocked camp store and coin laundry facility, and you also have access to luxury bathhouses, a free game room, outdoor billiards, a playground, various sporting equipment, volleyball, badminton, and bocce ball courts, cornhole, and horseshoes– we could go on and on! Best of all, regardless of the time of year, we host seasonal kids' programs, movies, and live music, so there are plenty of options for family fun without leaving the campground!
