1. Pack Smart

When preparing for your weekend of camping in the Smokies, one of the most important things you’ll need to do is to make a detailed packing list so that you make sure you have everything you and your family need.

The temperature in the mountains can swing with chills in the air over the course of a single day, so it’s important to pack plenty of clothes that can easily be layered. You might be in your bathing suit swimming or soaking up some sun in the afternoon but chilly and curled up in front of a fire at night!

It’s a good idea to include a first aid kit on your packing list, and you will be happy to have plenty of warm blankets and pillows to keep you comfy at night. You’ll also want to pack your family’s favorite snacks and meals that can be prepared quickly and easily. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

2. Bring Your Pup

To have even more fun camping in the Smokies, consider bringing the family dog along on the trip! By bringing man's best friend camping with you, you will be able to avoid the hassle and cost of boarding accommodations, not to mention your dog will be thrilled to be included in the family fun! Your kids will have a blast walking Fido around the campground, and if you feel like exploring outside the campground, there are plenty of pet friendly attractions throughout the Smokies. Read up on our pet policies to learn more about bringing your pup to the mountains!

3. Decide How You’ll Camp

Before you head towards the mountains, you’ll need to decide how you’ll be camping in the Smokies. Our campground has beautiful areas for tent camping, which offers the classic camping experience that you probably imagine when you think about a weekend in the mountains. You’ll love the rewarding work involved with popping a tent, building a fire for cooking and warmth, and falling asleep under the stars.

If you have an RV, our campground also has 120 full hookup sites available, ranging from private wooded areas to premium waterfront spots. All of our RV spaces offer water, sewer, electric, cable, and WiFi. Each site is equipped with 50 amp, 30 amp, and 110 electrical hookups.

For an even more luxurious camping experience, consider renting one of our camping cabins. We have a handful of standard camping cabins while our deluxe camping cabins come with a queen bedroom, a bunk room with 4 twins or a small loft for 2 small children, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a tub and shower, a living room, cable TV, WiFi, and a wrap-around deck that overlooks the river! For something unique, stay in one of our bell tents! They offer a tent camping in the Smokies experience with an extra layer of luxury. These come with 2 full-size pillow top mattresses, a fan, a table, and exterior and interior lighting.

4. Read Up on the Rules

Another way to prepare for your weekend of camping in the Smokies is to read up on the campground rules and regulations. From food regulations, swimming and tubing safety tips, what to do with your trash, and more, knowing the rules before you travel will ensure you have an easy and stress-free vacation in the mountains!
